EHR Incentive Payments - Timeline
December 2010
There are really two Federal incentive payment programs: Medicare (up to $44,000) and Medicaid (up to $63,750). Both are based on the idea of Meaningful Use, but the dollars and the timelines differ.
Here is a combined timeline. If you plan to take advantage of the Medicare Program, the first deadline is October 1, 2012.
| 2011 | Medicare program begins – Medicaid may begin, depending on State |
| 2011 | First year to begin Meaningful Use for $44,000 Medicare incentive payment. |
| October 1, 2011 | Last day to begin 90-day Meaningful Use reporting period for 2011 |
| 2012 | Last year to achieve Meaningful Use for full $44,000 Medicare incentive payment. |
| October 1, 2012 | Last day to begin 90-day Meaningful Use reporting period for 2012 |
| 2013 | Achieve Meaningful Use in 2013 and still get $38,000 Medicare payment. |
| 2014 | Last year to sign up for Medicare incentive payment (reduced payment) |
| 2015 | Medicare “adjustments” begin if you don’t have Meaningful Use |
| 2016 | Last year to sign up for Medicaid incentive payment. Full $63,750 is still available. |
VersaForm will fully support these incentives. Our job is to make it as easy as possible for you to qualify and collect the payments.
