What's ONC-ATCB 2011-2012?
ONC is the US Government Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. Their website is here. ONC-ATCB stands for ONC-Authorized Testing and Certification Bodies. The certification applies to 2011 and 2012.
I see the Certified logo says "Infogard". Who are they?
Infogard is one of several ATCBs that are authorized (as of March 2011) to test Complete EHR Software. The others are Drummond Group, CCHIT, ICSA Labs and SLI Global Solutions. Each of these, however, administers exactly the same tests, which are prescribed by NIST (the National Institute of Science and Technology) according to specifications developed by ONC. The NIST website is here.
What happened to CCHIT certification?
CCHIT is a certification organization that developed its own certification, starting in 2006. It is a fine certification, a lovely certification, an excellent certification, but it does not count for the government EHR incentives. The only certification that counts is ONC-ATCB 2011/2012. All the ATCBs use the exact same tests to certify an EHR, as the requirements and the tests are dictated by the government.
Here is the required legal verbiage:
“This Complete EHR is 2011/2012 compliant and has been certified by an ONC‐ATCB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. This certification does not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or guarantee the receipt of incentive payments.”
