Copy one record to a different file Problem: Customer needs to copy one record from a file into a different file. A record was lost during a File Recovery and customer wants to copy the record from a back-up copy into the working copy. Cause: Customer need/preference. Lost record needs to be restored. Solution: Use the "Copy One" procedure found in "Ledger.VFM". If needed you can Copy a procedure from "Ledger.VFM" into a different file. The following example assumes we are copying From "Ledger.bak" Into "Ledger.vfm". Keystrokes: Open the "Ledger" file. From the "Patient Ledger": Press <Alt+F10> for the File List Menu and select "Open Another File" then press <Enter> Enter the proper path for your file or press <Enter> to accept the default path. Type the name of the second file (in this case "Ledger.bak") and press <Enter>. Locate the record you want to copy. Press <Alt+F10> for the File List Menu highlight "Patient Ledger" and press <Enter>. You should be an empty Ledger. If not press <F9> to get an empty record. Press <Alt+F1> to get the Ledger Procedure Menu Select item #9 "Choose Other VersaForm Procedures" and press <Enter> At the bottom of the screen you will see "Execute Which Procedure: ?". Type in "Copyone" and press <Enter> A small window will appear with a list of the open files and the questions "File to copy FROM?". Highlight the file that has the data you want to copy (in this example "Ledger.bak ) and press <Enter>. The same small window will appear with a list of the open files and the question "File to copy TO?". Highlight the file you want to copy the information to (in this case "Ledger.vfm") and press <Enter>. All information with matching field names will be copied from the first file into the current file. Notes: If the "FROM" file has a different structure or the field names do not match some of the data will not be copied into the "TO" file. References: Related Topics:
