Copying Reports/Procedures/Print Formats

Problem: There is a need to copy Reports, Procedures or Print Formats from one VersaForm file to another.

Cause: Customer needs (report or procedure or print format has been deleted, a new item needs to be copied to a file, etc.)

Solution: Use the VersaForm Copy procedures.

Keystrokes: From the MD VersaForm Main Menu :

Select item # 6 - VersaForm XL Main Menu

Now select item #5 "Copy or Print Forms"

From the Copy/Print Function Menu

Select #3, "3. Copy control reports, formats, procedures, etc", press <Enter>

You will see the following choices:

Select the option of your choice (generally #1 Reports, #2 Print Formats, or #5. Procedures--Source and Object)

From this menu take #1 to have all the items copied or #2 to see a list from which you can make a choice of the items to copy.

You will see the following screen. "If the drive and path is correct press <Enter>." If not correct type in the correct information and press <Enter>.

When asked, type in the name of the file that has the reports/procedures/print formats you are going to copy FROM.

Next you are asked if you want a printed log. Generally answer "N".

You will see the following screen. "If the drive and path is correct press <Enter>." If not correct type in the correct information and press <Enter>.

Now enter the name of the file where you are going to place the reports/procedures/print formats – the file you are going to copy TO.

If you chose to manually select the items you will be presented with a list of the items. Type in the number of the item and press <Enter>. Press <PageDown> to see more of the list if needed. When done press <Esc>

Notes: If the file you are copying to has a different form design than the file you are copying from you will be warned of this and asked if you want to continue. You can continue, however the item may not work correctly in the new file.
