Fix Place of Service Code
The Procedure File has a pick list for the "PLC" field (Place of Service) that uses letters for the various service locations. For Medicare and many Commercial Carriers this needs to be a numeric code. The code prints on line #24 box B of the HCFA form. For Medicare there is a translation routine that puts the correct numeric code in the "PLC" field on the Ledger and hence the claims. For Commercial Carriers the letter code is put in the "PLC" field if this is the code used in the Procedure File.
The following procedure changes some of the more frequently used letter codes in the procedure file to the appropriate numeric code.
Be sure to type in the code exactly as illustrated - down to the space.
Once completed copy the "eachform" procedure from the Ledger to the Procedure File and run "eachform" and supplying "fix plc" when asked for the procedure to use.
