Map a Drive - Win95/98

Problem: When setting up VersaForm on a Windows 95/98 network the user cannot access VF from the workstation.

Cause: The server drive is not shared and/or the workstation is not mapped to the server drive.

Solution: Be sure the drive with VersaForm on the server is shared and the workstation is mapped to this drive.

Keystrokes: At the server:

Start "Windows Explorer"

In the "All Folders" window highlight the drive you want to share.

Click with the RIGHT mouse button. A menu list will be shown.

Click with the LEFT mouse on "Properties"

In the next dialog click on the tab that says "Sharing"

Click on "Shared As" and put a name in the "Shared Name" field or accept the one Windows puts there.

Under "Access Type" be sure "Full" has a dot in it.

Click on "OK"

Keystrokes: At the workstation

Start "Windows Explorer"

Click on "Tools"

Click on "Map Network Drive". You will see the "Map Network Drive" dialog box.

In the "Drive" field select the drive you want to map (click on the down arrow to see a list)

In the "Path" field type in the name of the drive you want to share (click on the down arrow to see a list).

Click on "OK"

Notes: Be sure that the 'config.sys' file does not have a line that says "Lastdrive = D". If it does, change the "D" to "Z" or remove the line completely.
