MediCal requires a Family Planning Code

In some areas Medicaid is requiring a "Method of Family Planning" code (a letter code from A – Q). The code is to be printed in box 24H of the HCFA form or its electronic equivlant.

Our "Public Aid" printformat does print the contents of the "FP" field on the paper claim. The user needs to put the code in the "FP" field of the Ledger.

To have the the contents of the Ledger "FP" field appear in the proper place of the electronic claim modify the print format "EDI MediCal Claim Type 05". Locate line # 44 in the details section (near the bottom of the print format). Change the "Print Items" from "' ' " to "ltrim(a.fp)". Press <F2> to recompile. The contents of the "FP" field on the claim form (transferred from the Leger) will appear in the proper place in the electronic claim file.
