Provider Not Authorized EMC for Medicare - NDC (ETS)

Problem: Error message from NDC (ETS) says - "Provider Not Authorized EMC for Medicare".

Cause: The provider is attempting to file a Medicare claim in a state where they do not have a valid Medicare number.

Solution: Obtain a separate Medicare ID number for each state where the practice sees patients. Set up a separate doctor in the "Practice and Provider File". For those patients who live in the other state have the MD ID field show that doctor's initials.

Notes: A Medicare claim cannot be filed across state lines.
