Sharing in Windows 95/98
Problem: In a Windows network VersaForm is generating a lock request network error – error 33.
Cause: Share is not loaded on the workstations
Solution: Load the Microsoft Share Utility
Keystrokes: From the Windows Desktop:
Click on the <Start> button
Click on <Settings>
Click on <Control Panel>
Double click on the icon called <Network>
In the Network dialog check to see if file sharing is in the components
If not present click on the button <File and Print Sharing>
Click on the box by "I want to be able to give others access to my files"
Click on <OK>
Click on <OK> again.
Notes: You will have to re-start Windows for this change to take effect. The Share utility allows for sharing of files on a computer. Without it the system cannot lock a file from two people entering data at the same time.
