Unwanted duplicate records Problem: Unwanted duplicate records appear in a database (VFM file) or report. Cause: This is a bug that has addressed fixed as of Feb 1997 issues. Solution: Run the File Integrity Check procedure and obtain the latest upgrade. Keystrokes: From the VersaForm XL menu: Select #7 "VersaForm Utilities" and press <Enter>. Select #6 "File Integrity Check" and press <Enter>. Press <Enter> to accept this directory or type in the correct file/directory path and press <Enter>. Type in the name of the file you want to check and press <Enter>. Select #4 "Index Completeness Check" and press <Enter>. Answer "Y" to the question about removing duplicate records. Press <Enter> when done. Follow the menu prompts or press <Esc> to return to the main menu. Notes: This problem has appeared from time to time. A bug was found an removed in version VF31. It is generally discovered when running a report and one entry appears more than once in the report. Often the actual file only shows one record. References: VersaForm Manual - page 286. |
