Version 7 Preferences

When installing or setting-up MDVersaForm 7.0x several choices need to be made. Here are the defaults and and explainations of each item:

MD VersaForm Default Preferences

Signature_on_file, Release_on_file. These two fields are used in insurance claim creation to indicate whether or the patient has signed authorization forms to release medical information and/or forms to pay the provider. If these fields are empty on page three of the patient's ledger, they will automatically be filled from the preference file. However, if Signature_on_file and Release_on_file are blank in the preference file, then you will need to go to page 3 of the patient's ledger to manually fill them.

PAN is short for Patient Account Number. Though it may be given an initial starting value, e.g ., 1000, PAN isn't normally changed.

Payment_Mode chooses the operating mode for posting insurance payments. "M" indicates the normal multi-line payment mode. "S" has been provided for users familiar with older versions of MD VersaForm.

Autoprompt automatically displays help information as the cursor moves from field to field. This is only useful for new users.

Translate helps in claim creation. When there is a "Y" in translate, MD VersaForm will convert values of certain fields into different values required by a particular insurance plan. This uses data in the TRANSLAT.VFM file to translate standard codes (such as the ones on the Place of Service pick list) to the ones that a particular carrier requires. This Translate feature is essential for electronic claims submission.

To change the preferences follow these steps from the Patient Ledger:

Press <Alt+F1>

Select item #7 "Preferences" and press the <Enter> key

Make the changes as noted above

Press <F2> to save your changes and return to the Ledger.
