Zip Back-up Zip drives are "removable disk drive". Each "drive" holds at least 100 Megabytes of data. Windows, Windows95 or Windows NT If you installed the tools that came with the drive you will have a "1 Step Back for Zip or Jazz" program. When started you will see this screen:
Click on the "Customize" button to set-up a back-up for VersaForm. In the General tab put "VersaForm" in the description box.
Click on the "File Seleciton" tab. Two windows will open – one for folders and one for files. Locate the VersaForm directory and click on the red box. It will fill with blue. The files in the VersaForm directory will display in the right side window with blue in their boxes.
Click "OK". At the first screen you will see the message has changed. Put a zip disk in the drive and click on "Back-up Now".
The back-up will begin. A button will appear on the task bar showing you what percentage of the back-up has been completed. When done the disk will be ejected and you will see a screen confirming that the back-up was completed. The next time you start the program you will see a screen like this:
When you click on "Backup Now" the system will add a new file to the disk. This file will containe the VersaForm files that have changed since the last backup. This is called an incrmental back-up. To start the process all over use a new disk or erase the disk you have and follow the steps above. DOS In DOS you will want to do a copy of the VersaForm files to the ZIP drive. Use the following command at the DOS prompt: XCopy X:\VFDir\*.* Y:\VFDir /s /e Where: X = The drive where VersaForm is located VFDir = The directory where VersaForm is located or to be stored. Y = The drive letter for your ZIP drive For example: XCopy c:\vf\*.* e:\vf /s /e Would copy all the files and sub-directories from the "C" drive and "VF" sub-directory to the "VF" sub-directory on drive "E".
